Mahomet Seymour High School

Boys XC 1st at Springfield On Saturday morning, the Mahomet-Seymour High School Boys XC Team competed at Lincoln Park in Springfield in the Springfield Lanphier Lee Halberg Invitational. The team has been attending this meet since 2004. There were two boys races held--a boys varsity (top 7) followed by a boys junior varsity (all other participants). 14 teams competed in the varsity race, with 13 being complete teams (5 or more runners). There were 90 individual finishers. The team placed 1st. This is our first time winning since 2021 and our 7th time winning the meet. Mahomet-Seymour placed 1st with 47 points, Taylorville placed 2nd with 96 points, and Mundelein placed 3rd with 116 points. Our scorers were Auggie Gaudio (4th), Henry McMurry (5th), Tate Bode (9th), Adam Smigielski (13th), and Tay Gergen (16th). Top 30 medaled. We had five medalists--Auggie Gaudio (4th), Henry McMurry (5th), Tate Bode (9th), Adam Smigielski (13th), and Tay Gergen (16th). 14 teams competed in the junior varsity race, with 11 being complete teams (5 or more runners). There were 132 individual finishers. The team placed 1st. Mahomet-Seymour placed 1st with 31 points, Mundelein placed 2nd with 59 points, and Champaign (Central) placed 3rd with 60 points. Our scorers were Caleb Zulauf (1st), Will Bednar (4th), Jackson Koontz (9th), Corban McMinn (10th), and Kiptyn Fan (11th). Top 20 medaled. We had five medalists--Caleb Zulauf (1st), Will Bednar (4th), Jackson Koontz (9th), Corban McMinn (10th), and Kiptyn Fan (11th). Auggie Gaudio ran the 15th fastest MSHS senior time ever at this meet with his 16:12. Henry McMurry ran the 16th fastest MSHS senior time ever at this meet with his 16:12. Tate Bode tied for 18th fastest MSHS junior time ever at this meet with his 16:27. Adam Smigielski ran the 11th fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 16:40. Tay Gergen ran the 15th fastest MSHS sophomore time ever at this meet with his 16:52. Caleb Zulauf ran the 3rd fastest MSHS freshman time ever at this meet with his 17:35. Will Bendar ran the 6th fastest MSHS freshman time ever at this meet with his 18:11. Corbin Moser ran the 12th fastest MSHS freshman time ever at this meet with his 21:36. The team will compete in the Peoria Notre Dame Richard Spring Invitational at Detweiller Park in Peoria next Saturday morning.
